| I receive requests from couples for my recommendations as to where to go for a romantic weekend, honeymoon or place to hold their wedding either on the beach or in a gazebo (etc). I am starting my list of places which I feel I can recommend. These will all be places where I have performed weddings and which impressed me with their ambiance and charm. I will also include places that are just for the ceremony, not for lodging. |
| In Miami Beach. The Palms Hotel located at 3025 Collins Ave. Tele: 305-534-0505 This hotel is located on the beach but with a beautiful lawn area that includes the pool, a gazebo tiki bar etc between the hotel and the ocean. The gazebo is available for weddings or you could do your ceremony on the beach. |

| In Fort Lauderdale. The Grand Pelican located at 2000 North Ocean Blvd. Tele: 800-525-6232 This is a new hotel built with Old Florida charm. The long porch with rocking chairs overlooks the ocean and the pool area, located on the north side of the hotel is landscaped with palms and tropical plants. This hotel has a gazebo located on top of the building for a beautiful ocean view and I understand is available for weddings. |
| In Fort Lauderdale It is a wonderful experience to visit, perform a wedding or (as I do) work as a volunteer at this very special place. The Bonnet House was built in 1920 and is listed on the National Register. It is located on 35 tropical acres just south of Sunrise Blvd and A1A. This is a beautiful location for a large outdoor wedding and outdoor catered reception. The house is a museum of art of personal treasures of the Birch/Bartlett families. | In Broward County County Parks...If you would like to hold your wedding in a Park here in Broward County the best place to start looking is at the Broward County web site under parks. There is a large list and the parks are varied. A couple that come to mind for a good wedding location is CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines and Fern Forest in Coconut Creek. There are many to chose from and you will be able to get started on your search at www.broward.org/parks I just performed a wedding in Fern Forest so thought I would give you an idea of what they offer. They have a nice space, roofed over they call the amphitheater. It feels like you're up in the trees and has a nice atmosphere. You can rent it seperately just for the wedding or you can combine it with their Banquet Hall. They also have a nice covered picnic shelter where you could have a nice picnic reception after the wedding. Their fees as of Feb 2009 $50. per hour for banquet hall, $150. for the Amphitheater (4 hrs) Picnis shelter $50. weekdays and $110. for weekend and holidays. Fern Forest is located at 201 Lyons Rd. Coconut Creek, just south of Atlantic Blvd, west of the Turnpike.Other nice faculities can be found at Anne Kolb Nature Ctr, Long Key Nature Ctr, Tree Tops Park. (all Broward Parks) |
| I had the opportunity, on the 3rd of November, to officiate at a wedding at this wonderful place. Do visit it if you have a chance and it is another great Florida Wedding Location. The American Orchid Society Botanical Garden Tele: 561-404-2000 In Delray Beach next to Morikami Gardens The gardens offer many beautiful spots for a small wedding and they can also accomodate large gatherings as well.Their prices start at less than $300. for 1 hour of time and up to 25 guests including the wedding party .This is location only, no food or dreink. Still a nice resonable price for a great spot for a memoriable wedding. www.aos.org |
| Flamingo Gardens Davie Florida We have a very beautiful location in western Broward County called Flamingo Gardens. It is a part of the history of the area and consists of 60 acres of trees and plants, a beautiful old home with a lush lawn and gazebo and roaming peacocks. It is a Botanical Garden and a wildlife sanctuary. It is a wonderful spot for an outdoor wedding and their prices are quite fair. They has facilities for a reception as well.
